The Idea Behind the League
The concept for the PBL began when Jay Wallace recognized that many talented basketball players in the Peoria area lacked a structured environment to continue playing competitive basketball after high school or college. While many players still had the passion and ability to compete, there were limited opportunities for organized leagues that tracked statistics, created team identities, and provided a professional-style experience.
Inspired by professional leagues like the NBA, Wallace envisioned a league that would operate similarly—complete with team franchises, coaches, statistics, awards, and a strong online presence where fans could follow games and player performances.
